Friends, Romans, Countrymen...and Shakespeare buffs

During the month of March, Manhattan Shakespeare Project visited 14 schools that included a Special Education High School and two English Language Learners High Schools. In total, MSP conducted 33 workshops, 15 performances and reached over 1500 students grades 5 to 12. The program filled the gap for many of the arts programs that are being cut in the public school system.

Here is what some of the people are saying about the program!

"This is the most engaged I have seen our students." - Thomas Rosa, Manhattan School for Career Development

"The kids loved the show, asked questions about it, got interested in Shakespeare and learned that he's alive and well. The students were also impressed by the feminist angle on such a notoriously chauvinist work." - William Zev Shanken, Teacher High School for Health Careers and Sciences

"I am truly grateful for the wonderful performance by your company members at our school. I would wish that we can do next year too." - John Ambrose, Park East High School

With such a great response, how can we not keep the program going?

But in order to keep the arts alive in our schools Manhattan Shakespeare Project needs your help. To put together this program it costs $10,000 and Manhattan Shakespeare Project managed to raise $3,450. In order to cover the remaining expenses, we need to raise $6,550.

We are conducting a fundraiser for the "Shakespeare Scholars" program so that we can continue to reach students in New York City. Anything you can give would greatly help these students learn about Shakespeare, his works and the performing arts.

Let's continue to fill that void that so many students are missing.
